Offerings for 2008 AMPIC

Sunday Sessions – PowerPoint to be offered in teaching lab with computer access for participants. Offer a beginner level first, followed by an intermediate level at set times so participants can select the level they choose to attend. Beginner would be for someone who has never used PowerPoint before. Intermediate would be for someone who wants to do more with it such as developing posters, including animations, sound and WebPages. (We will need to identify presenters. Michael how do we go about getting this on the original registration information so people can register in advance?)

Tuesday AM - Committee Workshops - The committee will put together one session on web conferencing as is used in meetings and program delivery. Care will be taken to include examples from Adobe Connect, Centra and other web conferencing packages to accommodate states using different systems. (We’ll need to put this together. We’ll need to develop a draft outline and share among the committee members for input and to identify others who might assist in the project.  (Michael - can we have live internet access during the session to demonstrate these?)  Will once again stick with the 3 sessions in 50 minute time slots to try to accommodate participants who want to go from room to room. Focus will be technology applications to improve efficiency and productivity for the extension educator or specialist. The other two slots will hopefully be filled by meeting participants wishing to present applications they are using to improve their efficiency and productivity. We will use the RFP process which will be on-line with a deadline of March 1. In order to encourage earlier participation, we will draft an RFP to be sent via the committee members to the state chairs within their region soliciting proposals. We will also prepare a RFP for the County Agent magazine. We may combine presentations if some do not need a full 50 minute period and work well together.

Software/Hardware Display Set-up in exhibit area. Committee members will develop list and send to Karen so we avoid duplication. Submit list by January 1. (I’m having Neal check with his Dell contact to see if they might be willing to participate. They also offer a program where they highlight new things coming in the not too distant future. I wondered if they were willing if this might be of interest to our audience as well.) things like iPhones, PDA’s. etc.

Thursday

We would like to offer a session from 1-5 since this is generally down-time at the conference. We would like to contact Beth Raney with eXtension to see if she might offer a program John has previously witnessed on use of excel for statistical analysis, program evaluation and marketing.

Application Showcase

(Michael, can exhibit fees be waived or reduced for these if the committee is requesting their participation. We may also be able to use them for workshop presentations.) set-up in poster/exhibit area. Another opportunity for educators to submit RFPs to share technology applications that improve their productivity and efficiency. Such as farm record-keeping, research data gathering, disease diagnostics, flora identification in Western States. (Again, need time and permission to set-up in poster/exhibit area to do this. Michael, is this possible? Could it be tied in with the poster sessions?)

We will meet on January 7; 4-5 PM EST to assess progress. Karen will make arrangements for phone bridge and adobe connect room. Bridge arrangements made.
